Where a figure comes from

Net interest margin, opened. The panel gives the calculation — interest income less interest expense, over average earning assets, annualised — then each line item that fed it, how many rows of the bank’s records each drew on, and the six months covered. All eight figures open the same way.

When someone asks why margin is 3.66% and not the figure in last week’s pack, you can answer without going back to the finance team. The panel also names the load the figures arrived in, and a correction arrives as a new load rather than overwriting the old one — so the number you quoted in March is still reproducible as it stood in March.
