From a finding to something assigned

The line at the foot of every card: what to do, the executive it belongs to, and a button that puts it on a list. Who owns it is decided in code from which check fired — a credit finding goes to the Chief Credit Officer, a margin finding to the CFO and ALCO — so the same finding always reaches the same desk. What lands on the list carries the action, owner, finding and the bank or branch it concerns.

A brief that ends in reading is a report. Naming the owner in code rather than leaving it to whoever writes the sentence is the difference between a suggestion and an instruction, and it is why the same condition cannot be routed two ways in two months. The list also reads on its own: an item taken into a meeting still says what it came from.
